PERSONNEL ASSESSMENT: PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION < Professional | Unlikable >On the job, Theron is a consummate professional. Polite, efficient, and quick-thinking, he gets the job done without allowing emotions or hesitation to get in the way. He treats everyone fairly, no matter how well or poorly they get along at other times, and ignoring factors like gender, race, social status, reputation, and sometimes even rank. While they are never quite gone, his usual sarcasm and short temper are mostly absent during missions and fights. At these times, the only way to rouse his ire is to be unprofessional (especially disrespectful) or outright cruel towards others. Off the field is a different story. At best, Theron appears indifferent (though his actual feelings are usually a different story), serious, and largely humorless, with little patience for goofing around. At worst, he is bitingly sarcastic, incredibly demanding of himself and others, vindictive, and easily provoked. Normally, he lands somewhere in between: serious and reserved, but prone to sarcasm, especially when he perceives others to be lazy or silly. However, he dislikes being teased, often even when it's friendly, and being annoyed makes his serious front slip, revealing more of his sarcastic nature. While he doesn't outright reject friendliness, he often reacts with outright hostility to those who act too familiar with him, and tends to push away people who manage to get too close. < Charismatic | Explosive >Despite his difficult and unlikable nature, Theron is strangely magnetic. His charisma arises not from charm, but from the intensity of his personality. Although it is rarely obvious, his willpower, dedication to his convictions, and forceful nature become apparent through his actions and words. He works hard to attain his goals, without letting insecurity or Others may disagree with his methods or his cause, but the sheer strength of his determination is undeniable. The rest of his emotions are not so obvious, but they are no less intense. If anything, they are more dangerous, since his tendency to keep a serious face means that his sudden outbursts of emotions are often unexpected and violent. For example, the angrier he is, the more ruthless he becomes, until he becomes capable of astonishing violence, even cruelty. While he only holds serious grudges over the worst offenses, he does not forgive easily, if at all, and he can be incredibly vindictive. Logically, his positive emotions should be just as intense, but he seems to be better able to hide those. < Fearless | Ruthless >Having grown up on Fermata, Theron is accustomed to seeing all manner of horrific things, from Nith twisted to meet the dangerous conditions of his homeworld, to the monstrous cruelty that sentient beings like humans are capable of. As a result, he reacts calmly and confidently, no matter how horrifying the situation. Very little manages to shake his professionalism in the battlefield, although his lack of shock and horror can be rather off-putting to witness. However, when witnessing atrocities, he is not unaffected -- he just channels his anger into righting the injustice. However, he is just as fearless in moral matters as in combat. He knows that sometimes, every possible option is bad, but doing nothing is unacceptable. Having had to deal with many such situations himself, he does not fear doing things that others consider repugnant, if it means that they'll all live to see another day. When it comes to helping his allies and destroying his enemies, Theron is willing to do whatever is necessary, no matter the cost. He regards unwillingness to make hard decisions as a form of cowardice, especially when the person responsible for the decision instead passes the decision onto someone else. By his way of thinking, those who are concerned with their conscience or sense of honor, rather than with the people who could be hurt as a result of their decisions, are selfish. < Realistic | Adaptable >Theron is not an optimist. He prepares for the worst, preferring to enter every situation knowing that he's done everything he can, and he never expects better of people than they've shown. Of course, he is always pleasantly surprised when things go smoothly or people prove to have hidden depths, but he never allows himself to rely on it. As a result, he is rarely surprised by bad luck and betrayals, although his lack of faith in others can be rather disheartening. As such, when things don't go according to plan, he is quick to respond, going with the flow and changing his tactics as needed. The few things that catch him by surprise don't keep him off-balance for long. This makes him a spectacularly tenacious and unpredictable opponent, especially in direct combat. A notable exception is when it comes to matters of his personality: there, at least, he is stubborn in sticking to his way of life. |
