Karin Christina Fournier - The Kirin Rider


"Noblesse Oblige. A concept often used in jest, due to the abuses of those nobles whose greed or ignorance overwhelm any positive influence they may have on this Universe. And yet, such a concept is the one driving my fate. I was born under fortunate circumstances, to a family I would not change for anything in existence. In a position of both power and privilege, my kin would always instill within me the duty of using both for the betterment of society. It is my responsibility and pride to serve the Keepers, to not be idle and train my body, mind and soul to very best they can be. I'll bring honor to my name and though my actions leave this universe in a better shape than when I arrived to it."



-------Karin Christina was born into the old, influential family of the Fourniers. A clan of good means and an old military history, led by strict tradition and a powerful sense of pride. She both enjoyed great privileges and endured incredible expectations during her formative years, all meant to exploit her full potential and develop a proud member of the Clan. While such a strict upbringing does tend to produce some rebellious children, Karin is the perfect example of her family's ideal... Strong, resolute, elegant and noble. However, a good degree of spontaneity, normal human contact and self expression were sacrificed as Karin was bound by duty to become who her family wishes her to be.

-------Karin's training and upbringing was highly diverse, meant to let her try her hand and acquire experience in a wide variety of fields through constant study, at the expense of specialization. Her body was tested and trained, swordsmanship techniques were taught to her,  her mind was put to constant study, she was made to learn the social graces and to develop the principles of the arcane. The product of this mix match of trainings is Karin's style as a soldier... an elegant and dexterous fencer, who can wield arcane forces as backup and who created own arms and armor... a saber whose blade is magically conjured from a specially made hilt and light weight arcane armor.

-------The young member of the Fournier was always meant by her family to attend the Academy in Ambery, however her right to belong there was secured when, to the pride of her kin, she manifested her Nexus and became a Cyrasili. However, Karin never expected the shape her own power would take... that of another living creature. At the moment of her manifestation, Karin's soul could be said to have split and then given birth a female Kirin who was later named Skye. A magical creature who seems to be the cross between a horse and a deer, the horned steed has a mind and personality of her own though she's willing to fight as Karin's mount so long as she's given the respect she demands. However, while Karin is rigid and steeped in tradition and duty, Skye is more of a free spirit who is not above poking at her rider's ego.
